Sandhill Crane Family
When I was a teenager living in Port Saint Lucie, Florida, in the 90s, we'd occasionally have Sandhill Cranes wander right through the neighborhood. They were massive, beautiful birds, sometimes surprisingly approachable, but always fiercely protective of their families. I wanted to translate these memories onto canvas. My goal was to capture their incredible stature, their natural beauty, and that brilliant, vivid red color that makes them so unforgettable. I used bold brushstrokes and deep textures to make the family of cranes stand out against an intense red background. There's nothing quite like seeing these amazing birds up close.
